Allelujah

Allelujah

Directed by Richard Eyre (Notes on a Scandal, The Children Act) and based on the acclaimed play by Alan Bennett, Allelujah boasts an all-star cast of British actors that includes Jennifer Saunders, Judi Dench and Derek Jacobi. Set in a small Yorkshire geriatric hospital that is under threat of closure, Allelujah takes us into the lives of the various staff members, residents, and families as they grapple with the daily challenges of providing care to vulnerable people.

A lively, witty and defiant tribute to the currently under threat UK National Health Service, Allelujah boasts an ensemble of memorable characters: from the firm but kind Sister Gilpin (Saunders), the government inspector (Russell Tovey) whose father Colin Colman (David Bradley) is in the hospital, and fellow patients such as the gentle and sad Ambrose (Jacobi) and inquisitive Mary (Dench).
